The 2023 SUFE Open officially kicks off on May 13 at the Wuchuan Road Badminton Gym. The competition is sponsored by the Sports Committee of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, organized by the Department of Physical Education, co-organized by the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics Badminton Association, and the Shanghai Branch of Industrial Bank is a partner. The participating units include universities in Shanghai.
Fang Hua, Vice President of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Lv Jidong, and Zhou Buxin, attend the opening ceremony of SUFE Open. More than 200 people from 23 universities take part in the game including Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Fudan University, Shanghai University, Tongji University, etc.
Secretary Lv Jidong said that SUFE OPEN as one of the brand events of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, creates a new form of competition. It enhances students' physical health, creating a strong campus sports culture, and strengthening inter-school communication.
Afterwards, Mr. Zhou Buxin said in his speech that he had participated in the SUFE OPEN Open as an athlete, and this experience had become a precious memory in his youth. This competition will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many athletes, and he hoped that athletes would sweat and leave no regrets in the competition.
Immediately afterwards, Wang Zun took the oath on behalf of the athletes and Xu Chentao on behalf of the referees took the oath.
Finally, Vice President Fang Hua announced that SUFE OPEN kicked off officially, and the opening ceremony ended in a warm atmosphere.
The badminton tournament consists of men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles, using a single-round knockout format. Athletes not only compete in the arena, but more importantly, enjoy the game, and communicate with each other, truly realizing the essential function of sports.
SUFE OPEN takes place at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics after three years, creating a platform for outstanding badminton players in Shanghai universities to meet friends and communicate with each other. The competition is praised by participants from major universities. It also makes the teachers and students of the school feel the badminton spirit with friendship and persistence as the core.
In the alumni symposium held on the afternoon of May 14, alumni gathered together for a long conversation. Chen Xinyuan, vice president of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, pointed out that sports can not only strengthen the body, but also promote communication among alumni. Using sports as a medium, it effectively links alumni with students at school, and enhances the emotions between alumni and alma mater in sports.
In the subsequent Alumni Cup badminton match, the scene of alumni actively participating in the game seems to go back to their college days.
