Under the correct leadership of the school Party committee, Faculty of Physical Education strengthens and improves the Party's leadership and propel the new great project of Party Building. As always, we have formed a profound, comprehensive and long-term understanding of the important role of physical education in school’s virtue fostering through education. All the staff take physical education as the fundamental, the physical health promotion of teachers and students as the core, curriculum construction as the leading edge, scientific research as the guarantee, the development of sports teams and reserve talent training as the focus, and high-level competitions as essential work. The school actively improves the hardware and software conditions for the development of sports programs, carries forward the healthy, positive campus sports culture and sports spirit, and strives to improve the overall level of school running. 

The construction of physical education curriculum in Shanghai University of Finance and Economics is steadily advanced and the teaching tasks were completed smoothly, in which case the qualified rate of students' physical health has been maintained at more than 90%. Moreover, Faculty of Physical Education actively promotes the curriculum reform and Improve the ideological and political education, thus receiving many commendations from superiors for many times. Many of the courses have been rated as excellent courses and key courses (at university and municipal levels), and won the second prize of teaching achievement of Shanghai and the first prize of undergraduate teaching achievement of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. Faculty of Physical Education and Business School jointly established the master program of Sports Business Management, which consists of four professional emphasis directions: sports marketing management, sports industry management, sports event organization and management, and sports health economy. 

With a series of construction and improvement, Faculty of Physical Education has gradually created a meticulous climate of research, nurtured a well-structured academic team with complementary specialties, developed a batch of characteristic and influential sports disciplines in Shanghai. A series of systems and policies to encourage research and innovation and promote the development of disciplines have gradually achieved results. As the enthusiasm of the majority of teachers has been aroused, the high- quality scientific research achievements have been on the upsurge. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the teachers of the Physical Education Department, as the main person in charge, have published 15 authoritative B-level journals or above.  

Through giving full play to the principal role of students in campus sports, Faculty of Physical Education constructs a tournament system with distinctive characteristics of the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics based on Student Sports Clubs as competition subjects. Such a concept breaks through the dual competition structure of school SPORTS and SPORTS culture festival, which is common in domestic universities, and creates two major competition brands, SU OPEN and SU SPORTS. 

In addition, Faculty of Physical Education continues to improve the three-level management system, namely high-level sports teams, permanent sports teams and sports teams of intensified training. There are 11 permanent sports teams, and a number of training teams shoulder the task of preparing for the (Sunshine Sports League). As a high-level sports team, the chess and card teams are of the first class in the world, and the tennis and swimming teams are of the first class in China. Our school is good at promoting the overall development of sports teaching, sports training, group activities and cultural construction through competitive sports. With sports teams as the leading part, we adopt the development mode of one team, one class, one community and one competition. Sports team members play a core role in classes, associations and competitions, which effectively facilitates the popularization of sports, the promotion of students' health, the improvement of sports level and the construction of campus culture. From 2016 to 2019, our sports teams have won a total of 1,053 domestic awards, with an average annual average of 263, among which 59 are champions of international competitions. These achievements are impressive and inspiring.

The Faculty of Physical Education fully integrates the campus sports culture with the top international competitions. The holding of a number of major events triggered the enthusiasm of campus sports, such as Shanghai Games Opening Ceremony, World Rope Skipping Championship, World Karate Federation - Olympics Points Race, Sino-US University Physical Education Summit and Shanghai International Standard Dance Open Championship. While improving the school's sports culture, the Faculty of Physical Education makes great contributions to the national competitive sports strategy. In 2018, the opening ceremony of the 16th Shanghai Games was held in our school. The opening ceremony of this sports meeting is the highlight of campus sports, which is the only time that the opening ceremony of the Shanghai sports meeting is held in the campus so far, fully demonstrating the recognition of the sports work of our school by the sports and education authorities of Shanghai. The leaders who attended the opening ceremony were Li Qiang, municipal party secretary, Ying Yong, vice secretary municipal committee of the CPC and the mayor, Yin Yicui, director of the standing committee of municipal people's congress, Yin Hong, vice secretary municipal committee of the CPC, and municipal leaders Yu Shaoliang, Zhuge Yujie, Ling Xi, Xu Zezhou, Fang Huiping etc. Chen Qun, vice mayor and director of the municipal Games Organizing Committee, presided over the opening ceremony.          

By the end of 2020, the Faculty of Physical Education has a total of 31 teaching staff, including 29 full-time teachers (2 full senior positions, 13 deputy senior positions, 11 medium-grade positions and 3 junior positions). The total stadium area is nearly 65,000 square meters, with an average per capita area of 4.86 square meters, involving 2 modern integrated gymnasiums, 1 standard track-and-field ground, 17 basketball courts, 8 tennis courts, 6 volleyball courts, 1 indoor sports arena and 1 badminton stadium.
