On the evening of May 14th, the 13th Sports Culture Festival and the final of the SUFE SPORTS Basketball League were held at the campus gymnasium. The opening ceremony was announced by the Secretary of the Party Committee, Xu Tao, who also performed the ceremonial tip-off, while the President, Liu Yuanchun, delivered the opening speech. The event was attended by the leaders including Xu Fei, Fang Hua, Yao Lingzhen, Zhu Mingxiong, Li Zengquan, Liu Liya, Liu Qingsheng, the school's board members, alumna Wang Minwen, leaders from relevant colleges and functional departments, and over two thousand faculty and students. The opening ceremony was presided by Lv Jidong.
Before the opening ceremony, students from the affiliated Guan'an Road Elementary School of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics presented a lively and cheerful basketball dance performance. Members of the school's aerobics and cheerleading teams followed with dynamic and energetic performances, setting the stage for the event.
As the referee's whistle blew, players from the College of Business and the International Education College engaged in fierce competition. Each attack represented a desire for scoring, and every defense symbolized a commitment to victory. Amidst the roaring applause and cheers, the scoreboard numbers fiercely fluctuated, reflecting the youth's passion and strength as they challenged themselves and surpassed their limits in the sweat-drenched arena. This was not just a display of skills and willpower but also a demonstration of teamwork, individual growth, and the vibrant spirit of youth.
During the halftime break, outstanding athletes selected from the entire school showcased their basketball skills and three-point shooting contest, further elevating the atmosphere at the event.
After the halftime break, the competition entered its most tense and thrilling moment. Despite falling behind by a large margin at the beginning, the International Education College made a strong comeback, fueled by the relentless efforts and unwavering determination of each player. The fluctuating game dynamics stirred the emotions of all spectators present. With the score tied at 67:67 and 22 seconds left on the clock in the fourth quarter, the game went into overtime. In a crucial moment with just one point difference, the College of Business seized a free-throw opportunity. Two successful free throws secured a 76:77 victory, allowing them to successfully defend their title as champions of the SUFE SPORTS Basketball League in the final.
