On July 17th, the opening ceremony for the pre-competition training camp of the Chinese Rope Skipping National Team for the 2024 Asian Rope Skipping Championship, themed " Leading Asia, Chasing Dreams of the World," was grandly held at our university’s gymnasium.
Among the distinguished guests present at the event were Zhou Weizhong, Director of the 5th Division of the Social Sports Guidance Center under the State General Administration of Sports and the Chief Coach of the Chinese Rope Skipping National Team; Liu Qingsheng, Vice President of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics; Lü Jidong, Secretary of the Physical Education Department of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics; Dong Minkai, Deputy Director of the Physical Education Department; Chen Yanghui, Deputy Director of the National Rope Skipping Promotion Committee and Deputy Leader of the Chinese Rope Skipping National Team; Fu Qiang, Marketing Director for the Children's Market at 361 Degrees and Cai Yingmin, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Rope Skipping Promotion Committee, Head Coach of the Chinese Rope Skipping National Team, and Associate Professor at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. They witnessed this significant moment.
Vice President Liu Qingsheng welcomed everyone on behalf of the university. He expressed that under the strong advocacy and promotion of the country, the rope skipping project in China has developed rapidly.
Following the welcome speech, Zhou Weizhong handed over the flag, which was received by Chen Yanghui.
Cai Yingmin led all members of the 2024 Chinese Rope Skipping National Team in a solemn oath: '' Everything is for the country's interests, we will follow the discipline, work hard, and strive for outstanding results!"
According to statistics, since 2013, the Chinese Rope Skipping National Team has participated in 15 international competitions, winning a total of 359 gold, 228 silver, and 198 bronze medals, and breaking 59 event records. The 2024 Asian Rope Skipping Championship will be held from July 23 to 30 in Kawasaki, Japan. This championship will see participation from over 1,000 athletes from 12 countries and regions, including China, Japan, South Korea, India, Iran, Singapore, and Malaysia. The Chinese Rope Skipping National Team will send over 200 athletes from 13 provinces (autonomous regions, and municipalities) including Beijing, Shanxi, Jilin, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Shandong, Henan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Chongqing, and Shaanxi, to compete in over 290 events across 16 categories, including 30-second single rope skipping, 3-minute single rope skipping, and individual freestyle. From now until July 22, the Chinese Rope Skipping National Team will conduct their pre-competition training at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. Under the guidance of Head Coach Cai Yingmin and other coaching staff members like Zhang Yan, the team will engage in specialized training and testing to tackle even higher peaks with a renewed spirit.
