On July 20, the 2024 Chinese College Chess Championship successfully concluded in Bengbu, Anhui Province, after three days of competition. This event attracts a hundred chess masters from 25 universities across the country, including Peking University, Nanjing University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and Zhejiang University.

Our university sent two participants to compete. Cai Bo-heng from the School of Humanity, a freshman, won the women's ranked group championship with an impressive score of 8.5 points, clinching first place with a two-point lead over the second-place contestant after winning eight matches and drawing one in nine rounds. Xing Yi-xiao, a sophomore from the School of Finance, achieved a commendable fourth place in the men's master group.

The students from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics displayed determination and outstanding performance, showcasing their skills and style. In the first six rounds, the chess team captain, Cai Bo-heng, achieved six consecutive victories to maintain the lead, and secured the championship by scoring 3.5 points in the final four rounds. Xing Yi-xiao finished with a total of 6 points, tied with the second and third place contestants but was placed fourth due to a lower tiebreak score.


Prominent figures attended the closing ceremony, including Li Qi, the competition supervisor from the Chess Department of the State Sports General Administration's Chess Sports Management Center, Chang Wen-jie, from the Bengbu City Bureau of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Qin Sheng-ou, the head of the Group Science Section of the Bengbu City Bureau of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and Yu Ji-hong, the president of the Bengbu Chess Association, who presented awards to the winners.


In this competition, our school's athletes demonstrated the outstanding sportsmanship of SUFE. Through rigorous training, they remained calm, striving for gold and silver medals. They achieved remarkable athletic results while also embodying a spirit of SUFE, which has brought honor and distinction to our school.
