From July 22th to December 18th, the 27th National College Tennis Championships take place at Shanghai University. This premier university tennis event attracted over 1,000 athletes from more than 100 universities across the country. Our school's tennis team sent a total of 14 athletes to compete. Under the guidance of head coach Zhang Lingling, the team members engaged in over 20 days of intensive training following their final exams. After several days of fierce competition, our students secured championships in the Men's Team and Men's Singles events of Group B, as well as the runner-up position in Women's Singles of Group B and 3rd place in Women's Singles of Group D and many other honors.

In the team competition, the Group B men's team, composed of Deng Zhaohua, Chen Xingyu, Ye Yiwei, and Shen Yizhicong, advanced as the top team in their group. With outstanding singles’ performances from Deng Zhaohua and Chen Xingyu, they swept through their matches, defeating strong opponents such as Shanghai University and Renmin University of China. In the finals, they triumphed over Zhejiang University, with a score of 2:0, securing the Group B team gold medal with an impressive display.


In the singles events, our students Chen Xingyu and Zhang Qingyang fought their way through a field of excellent competitors to compete for the Group B men's and women's singles championships. Ultimately, with stable performance and strong mental fortitude, Chen Xingyu claimed the Group B men's singles title with a close score of 6:5. Despite suffering from heatstroke, Zhang Qingyang persevered through a tough match but narrowly lost, earning the runner-up position in Group B women's singles. In the Group D women's singles, Han Chengwei demonstrated exceptional skills, narrowly winning in the quarterfinals before falling in the semifinals, ultimately securing 3rd place in her category. Additionally, Shen Yizhicong encountered a tough opponent from Zhejiang University in the quarterfinals and faced a cramping issue at a score of 4:4. However, he finished the match, ultimately losing 4:6, showcasing an inspiring fighting spirit that moved the audience.




In the doubles competition, the Group B men's doubles team of Deng Zhaohua and Ye Yiwei faced opponents from Southwest Petroleum University in the quarterfinals. After falling behind 2:5, they saved multiple match points and fought back to force a tiebreak, but unfortunately lost 5:7, finishing in the 5th place.


Additionally, Ye Wenjia, Zhang Qingyang, Zhang Xinyi, and Zhang Yixuan secured the 5th place in the Group B women's team event. Chen Zihui, Tang Sheng, Wang Xiaofei, and Yu Tianyang placed 5th in the Group D men's team event. Xiao Zhenghua and Han Chengwei finished in the 5th place in the Group D women's team event. Tang Sheng and Yu Tianyang also placed 5th in the Group D doubles event. Congratulations to them all!

This championship not only showcased our tennis team's exceptional technical skills and strong willpower but also highlighted the resilient and competitive spirit of our university. We look forward to even greater achievements from our tennis team in the future!
