At the 2022 World Fast Chess Championship, Tan Zhongyi, a former women's world champion and alumnus of SUFE, won the fast chess world championship. The World Championships were held in Kazakhstan from December 25th to 30th, with 98 female players participating. The time limit of the fast chess game is 15+10. After 11 rounds of Swiss System, Tan Zhongyi and the well-played host player Dinara Saduakassova are tied for the first place with the point of 8.5. The two had to enter a 3+2 super fast chess showdown to compete for the championship. Tan Zhongyi played a draw with her opponent in the first round. In the second set, She did not panic when the situation was once behind, but patiently waited until her opponent made a mistake. She extended her advantage and finally won the championship. This is the third time that Chinese chess players have won the World Fast Chess Championship after Ju Wenjun in 2017 and 2018. It is also Tan Zhongyi's second world championship after the World Slow Chess Championship.

Chinese chess has achieved fruitful results in 2022. SUFE alumni have performed particularly well. Tan Zhongyi and Lei Tingjie successfully met in the final of the 2022 FIDE Women's World Championship Candidates Competition, and they will hold a six-set slow chess competition in the first quarter of 2023. The winner will challenge the current Women's World Champion and SUFE alumnus Ju Wenjun for the new Women's World Championship. The Chinese chess team composed of young players such as Lu Shanglei and Bai Jinshi won the world team championship. A series of excellent achievements opened a glorious chapter.

On December 26th, the 2022 Yinzhou Cup China Chess TV Fast Chess Tournament ended all six rounds of competition. Ni Hua, an alumnus of the School of Humanity of SUFE, won in the men's group against Ding Liren, who ranks first in the domestic ranking. Zhu Jiner, a sophomore in the School of Accountancy, successfully won the championship in the women's group. Ni Hua is a veteran chess player, while Zhu Jiner is the world's No.1 female chess player among young chess players. The double championships are also the best performance of the chess culture of SUFE in the inheritance of decades of glory. Wish the school's chess team to achieve good results in the new year, and the students are both successful in chess and academic.
