Under the leadership of Lv Jidong, the team leader, and Coach Xu Min, the fencing team of our school participated in the fencing competition of the 17th Shanghai Sports Meeting held in Shanghai Jianqiao University on December 17th.
The process of the competition was ups and downs. A week before the game, many members of the team had been tested to be positive. The training was forced to be suspended, but the members took the time to adjust their physical condition. Until the night before the game, there were still players waiting for the result of nucleic acid test, and some players were appointed as substitutes. Finally, on the day of the game, seven players embarked on the journey of the competition. Unlike other high-level fencing teams in other universities, our fencing team members, under the leadership of Coach Xu, were selected from freshmen. From scratch, the team has accumulated a lot. New and old members have trained hard to improve their level and get ready for this competition.
In the group match in the morning, in the face of strong opponents, the team members calmly confronted the competition and achieved a better seed position in the knockout match. In the end, Liang Shuangji won the fourth place in the women's epee individual competition, and Chu Zhaonan won the seventh place in the men's epee individual competition. They both created our school's ranking record of men and women in the fencing championship.
In the afternoon, the team competition was held. Chu Zhaonan, Li Bingyu, Du Yuxi and Pan Junheng took part in the men's epee team and won the bronze medal. The women's epee team composed of Liang Shuangji, Luo Manluo Lan and Adina, won the bronze medal after defeating Shanghai Jianqiao University. These two team achievements are also the best results that our school has achieved.
